01. Past Activities

Webinar 10: Natural Killer Cells in action: from bench to bedside

The video of the webinar entitled: “Natural Killer Cells in action: from bench to bedside” can be viewed here:

Third IMMUNO-model TGRC workshop: Young Researchers and Innovators

The 3rd IMMUNO-model TGRC Workshop, titled “Young Researchers and Innovators on Immunotherapies: The Future is Now”, took place at IPO Porto, Portugal, on 25 September 2025. The workshop highlighted the vibrancy and talent of Europe’s young immuno-oncology community. Importantly, it demonstrated how innovative research is translating discoveries into preclinical models capable of studying tumor response and resistance to immunotherapy, while fostering networking and cross-border collaborations that reinforce the pathway from bench to bedside and ultimately aim to improve patient outcomes.

02. Announcements

02.1 IMMUNO-model members database

Are you looking for collaborators or partners for your scientific activities? You can check IMMUNO-model Cost Action database.

02.2 IMMUNO-model podcast series

The third podcast “Medicinal Chemistry of the PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint: where organic chemistry, biochemistry and immunology meet” is online.

02.3 Knowledge Hub – IMMUNO-model

IMMUNO-model Knowledge Hub is a dedicated platform for the collection, sharing, and dissemination of protocols relevant to immuno-oncology research. It is an open-access hub where you can find high-quality protocols relevant to immune-oncology research as well as find experts in the field or contribute to a growing community.

You can also access the IMMUNO-model Knowledge Hub at www.osf.io. Simply register and login to explore the IMMUNO-model collection of protocols, designed to support knowledge sharing and transfer.

02.4 New project funded in the scope of IMMUNO-model COST Action

New project funded in the scope of IMMUNO-model COST Action: ioAVATAR (Immune Oncology Drug Discovery & Decision-Advanced ex vivo Approach to accelerate response prediction for combined therapies in ovarian cancer) is one of the 15 projects funded by the TRANSCAN-3 2024 joint Translational Call. ioAVATAR Consortium brings together three of IMMUNO-model members, Prof, Leticia Oliveira-Ferrer (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany), vice-chair of COST Action IMMUNO-model, and includes Devrim Pesen Okvur (Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey) and Rebeca Sanz-Pamplona (Health Research Institute Aragón, Spain). The ioAVATAR research project aims to develop complex ex vivo models—so-called patient AVATARs—that faithfully reproduce the tumor microenvironment of patients with ovarian cancer.

03. Upcoming and ongoing activities

03.1 Save the Date!

A one-day international symposium “Modelling Immunotherapy in 3D: bridging the gap to the clinic” will held in Barcelona on February 9th, 2026. The symposium will explore the latest advances in 3D modelling of immunotherapy, focusing on patient-derived organoids and tumour-on-chip platform to innovate preclinical models bridging toward clinical application.

03.2 IMMUNO-model Event

An IMMUNO-model event entitled “MODELS, CHALLENGES AND PROMISES OF ADVANCED THERAPIES FOR CANCER: NK CELLS IN THE CLINIC AND INDUSTRY”. The event will be held at the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC) in Madrid, March 5-6, 2026 and will bring together researchers, clinicians and industry experts, offering a unique platform to share recent efforts in innovation on advanced therapies using NK cells.

03.3 Annual Meeting: SAVE the DATE

SAVE the DATE for the Final Annual Meeting will be held in May 20-22, 2026, at the National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The program will be available soon.

03.4 Collaboration with Patients’ Organization

IMMUNO-model is introducing its activities to Patients’ organization as patients are part of the COST Action and are ultimately who will benefit from immunotherapy.

05. Digital material

IMMUNO-model COST Action participants can now make use of the action logos and a power point template for presentations! Please go to the Members Area of our website to log in or register (https://www.immuno-model.eu/login/). You will receive a link (please check your spam folder if you don’t receive an email) to set your password and after that you should be able to start using the intranet and download the materials as needed.
