The Resistance, Chemotherapy, and Predictive Biomarkers (RCPB) group is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral candidate to apply for an MSCA or AECC fellowship. Our research focuses on identifying mechanisms of resistance to standard treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and discovering predictive biomarkers to enable personalized therapies. We employ 2D and 3D cellular models, mouse models (following 3R principles), and patient-derived biological samples in a strong translational research approach. Learn more: RCPB Research.

Our group collaborates closely with the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and is actively involved in two major research programs: ProCURE (ICO) (ProCURE Oncology) and CARE (IGTP) (CARE Program). The team is led by Dr. Eva Martinez-Balibrea, a renowned expert with over 20 years of experience in the field (Publications).

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

We have recently secured funding from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities for the KRAS-RESIST project, which investigates resistance mechanisms to mutated KRAS inhibitors in mCRC. The project includes the generation of drug-resistant cell lines and genomic and transcriptomic analyses to identify tumour vulnerabilities, aiming to discover combination therapies and novel biomarkers for treatment selection.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct bioinformatics analyses of omics data from the KRAS-RESIST project and other sources.
  • Develop and implement computational approaches to gain insights into cancer biology.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to high-impact research publications.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE

Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 (HORIZON-MSCA-2025-PF-01):

  • Have a maximum of 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience since obtaining the Ph.D.
  • Must not have resided or worked in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the application deadline (10-09-2025).
  • Strong track record of research achievements, including at least two first-author publications in Q1 journals.
  • Expertise in bioinformatics, with experience in handling and interpreting multi-omics data.
  • Ability to extract biological insights from complex datasets; experience in cancer immunity studies is highly valued.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

WHAT WE OFFER

  • The selected candidate will be incorporated upon obtaining an MSCA-PF-2024 or similar fellowship.
