02. Announcements

02.1 Creating IMMUNO-model members database
IMMUNO-model Cost Action has the objective to facilitate its members to find collaborators. In this regard a database working as a platform has been created with the goal to promote scientific work and establish collaborations.
Please fill in the survey following the link: https://docs.google.com/forms
02.2 IMMUNO-model podcast series
The first podcast “Unraveling the contribution of post-transcriptional regulation in the cancer-immune cells cross-talk” is online.
02.3 Annual Report Grant Period 2
Annual Report Grant Period 2 is out!
02.4 Knowledge Hub – IMMUNO-model
IMMUNO-model Knowledge Hub, a dedicated platform for the collection, sharing, and dissemination of protocols relevant to immuno-oncology research. This open-access hub aims to foster collaboration, standardize methods, and accelerate progress in this critical field by providing researchers with trusted, high-quality protocols. Whether you’re developing new immunotherapy models, testing biomarkers, or conducting preclinical studies, the Knowledge Hub is here to support your research and innovation.
03. Upcoming and ongoing activities
03.1 Webinar
Do not lose the opportunity to participate in the upcoming webinars:
- “Aspect Analytics and computational-oriented IMMUNO-models” will be moderated by Dr. Rebecca Sanz and Dr. Maurizio Callari
- “CAR (T) therapies for cancer treatment” will be moderated by Dr. Laura Belver and Rui Bergantin
03.2 Annual Meeting
SAVE the DATE for the Third Annual Meeting entitled “Modeling Immunotherapy for cancer: Bridging Research to Clinical Application”, that will be held in May 13-14, 2025, at the University of Warsaw Biological and Chemical Research Centre (CNBCh UW, Warsaw, Poland).
03.3 Collaboration with Patients’ Organization
IMMUNO-model is introducing its activities to Patients’ organization as patients are part of the COST Action and are ultimately who will benefit from immunotherapy.
03.4 Special issue in Frontiers in Immunology titled “Cellular Immunotherapy: transforming Cancer Treatment”
This Research Topic, organized and supported by the IMMUNO-model COST Action, will review the latest advances in the development and application of cell-based immunotherapies for cancer treatment.
03.5 Grants
Do not lose the opportunity to apply for mobility grants such as Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs), Young Research (YR) and Innovator Conference, Virtual mobility (VM), Dissemination Conference (DC) and Inclusive Target Country/Near Neighbour Country (ITC) Conference grants.
03.6 Omics Data Gathering Project
The project has a dedicated taskforce to define the main principles of dataset searching and curation. The main goal is to enable researchers to easily access and organize relevant data, contributing to biomarker discovery and translational research. To do so, the dedicated Taskforce is curating a larger project aimed at visualizing and analyzing publicly available omics datasets in the immuno-oncology field.
03.7 Workshop 03
“Harmonizing models of immunotherapy: Past, present and future directions”: Working Group 2 (WG2) will hold a workshop in Bergen, Norway on in vivo modelling for the development of onco-Immunotherapeutics. This will be a hybrid meeting and will take place on April 7-8, 2025. The program includes speakers in the field of model development, workshops and identification of study groups to achieve the goals of WG 2. Invited Speakers are:
- Enni Markkanen (University of Zurich, Switzerland) “From Canine Companions to Cancer Cures: The Value of Dogs for Immuno-Oncology”;
- Rita For (Foundation, Porto, Portugal) “Zebrafish Avatars: a platform for personalized medicine and discovery of innate immune mechanisms and modulators for cancer immunotherapy”,
- Carla Panisello (Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, Badalona, Spain) “NSGS mice humanized with cord blood mononuclear cells show sustained and functional myeloid-lymphoid representation with limited graft-versus-host-disease” Visit the program at the link: https://www.immuno-model.eu/newss/immuno-model-workshop-harmonizing-in-vivo-models-of-immunotherapy-past-present-and-future-directions-of-wg2/
03.8 3rd IMMUNO-model Training School
We are happy to officially announce the 3rd Training School on “Liquid Biopsies in Hematological Malignancies – identification of immunotherapy biomarkers”, from 30th June to 2nd July 2025, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal. This training school aims to provide an introduction and comprehensive training in the role of liquid biopsies in diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and drug response evaluation, including drug resistance, in hematological malignancies.
